Park Hills Life

Hi, my name is Pam Spoor and I am running for City Council.  I am a wife, mother of 5 children all raised in Park Hills, grandmother, lawyer with a background in municipal finance, a volunteer, a gardener, president of the Board of Behringer Crawford Museum and devoted fan of Park Hills.

I was originally elected with a clear goal of restoring our city’s fiscal health.  Through careful budgeting, good fiscal management and control of expenses, we have gone from zero reserves in 2011 to over $640,000 in 2018.  This was accomplished WITHOUT raising taxes.

If reelected my goals include:

  • Keep taxes low by living within our means: I am opposed to taxing our utility bills. My voting record is clear.
  • Keep our excellent police and fire departments in Park Hills: I am opposed to hiring another city’s services or merging services with a neighboring city.
  • Continue to build our reserve funds through vigilant expense management so that future capital needs can be met.
  • Minimize government overreach – make it easier to invest in Park Hills homes and businesses
  • Improve and maintain our parks- preserve our historic character, our tree canopy
  • Extend gaslight style street lighting throughout our city to improve safety and add to the beauty of our community.

The founder of Park Hills, D. Collins Lee, once fondly said “there will never be another Park Hills”.  I agree.  I do not have any private agenda.  I want to preserve the history, beauty and unique character of Park Hills while strengthening it financially so that it will continue to be a wonderful place to live.  Let’s keep Park Hills safe, financially strong, beautiful and vibrant.

I respectfully ask for your vote on November 6.

Gratefully, Pam Spoor
